The Maestro Of Tamil Film Music Industry
Ilayaraja is a
popular composer of film music in the South Indian Cinema industry right
from the late 1970s. Even though, he has composed tunes for movies in
different Indian languages like Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu, he
is known for his prominent hits for the Tamil film Music Industry. He
gained popularity in the industry mainly because he acted as a
trend-setter by integrating folk lyricism and also by introducing
broader western musical sensibilities into the South Indian Musical
mainstream. He has several accolades and awards in his favor for the
best background score and soothing harmony notes composed by him.
The Trinity College of Music, London awarded him a gold medal in classical guitar in the year 1993. He also holds the pride of being the first Asian to score a full symphony performed in London.
